Contributing to the EIP-AGRI Workshop ‘Opportunities for farm diversification in the circular bioeconomy’

Lithuania, 6 February 2019

The EIP-AGRI network organized a Workshop ‘Opportunities for farm diversification in the circular bioeconomy’ in Vilnius, Lithuania on 6-7 February 2019.

The aim of this workshop was to look at the various business models farmers and foresters could potentially adopt to take advantage of the circular economy markets, for example:

  • By developing intermediary products.
  • By developing joint initiatives with the industry.
  • On their own by developing particular products.

AGROinLOG was invited to participate in this event together with other three projects to present the work being undertaken under the circular bio-economy theme.

In particular, Fernando Sebastián (CIRCE), AGROinLOG project coordinator, presented the concept of Integral Biomass Logistic Centers that could be replicable in several farms and small agroindustries all along Europe and explained how to organise the logistics for biomass.

The presentation was focused on the experiences gathered through the AGROinLOG project; in particular, on aspects related to cooperation between farmers in biomass logistics, highlighting the added value of the biomass logistic centres for farmers.
